New to the performance scene, Sherise Valley finally progressed from playing for her dog in her bedroom and got on stage less than a year ago. Her first show was a solo acoustic performance to a 600+ crowd at Toronto’s fabulous Pheonix Concert theatre.
She returned to Vancouver and began doing the open mic thing, and now, a year later she works with a talented band that gives her rocking tunes justice.
As a song-writer, Sherise was selected twice for BC Festival of the Arts conferences. Her hard work as a song-writer is just starting to pay off. Radio-ready “Over the Border” currently loops on the Songwriter Universe playlist, after winning international "best song of the month" contest and being featured in SU's December issue.
Over the Border also appears on a compilation CD produced by a local University radio station. College radio stations in the U.S. cannot wait for the release of her CD, and have requested un-mastered tracks for radio-play.
Sherise’s forthcoming debut CD is ‘self-produced’, in that she has written every track, the words and music, all arrangements, most of the guitar and keyboard lines, and carried out the project and vision on her own.
She has recorded in four different studios over the course of two years. However, she enlisted the talents of Juno-award-winning producer and former guitar-player of Moist, Mark Makoway, to mix most of the CD, add some of his famous guitars and ensure a consistent and professional sound for the project. Her CD will be released in July.
